“TATTOO: IDENTITY THROUGH INK” is currently touring the USA, and in 2022 it visited the American Swedish Historical Museum (Philadelphia) and Museum of Danish America (Elk Horn, IA) this summer. The Museum of Danish America (MDA) created a fab 3D of the exhibition, so please visit this link to take a peek. For a gallery talk, please watch this YouTube video.
A gallery of images from the MDA show can be seen here as well as other views from the Vesterheim edition below.
The first venue for 2023 is Nordic Northwest (Portland, OR) where the show runs April 1-July 1.
Enjoy!

Come one, come all to the Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum for our new exhibition “Tattoo: Identity Through Ink” opening June 1! We have formed some great partnerships along the way – Toppling Goliath Brewery and Valhalla Tattoos – and I will keep everyone updated regarding special events!
FYI….On September 19 @ 7pm, I will deliver a public lecture focusing on the exhibition and tattoo history at nearby Luther College. A reception will follow at the Vesterheim Museum. Can’t wait and hope to see you there!!!
